This week, I voted in support of the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation (WIIN) Act: The most significant effect of this bill is that it forces the EPA to pay for the Animas River Spill that they caused in Colorado. Among other important items, this comprehensive bill will also provide resources to improve drinking water infrastructure, allow states to remove themselves from restrictive EPA coal ash mandates, and hold the EPA accountable. http://transportation.house.gov/wrda-2016/
Today, I voted in favor of the Continuing Resolution, which funds the government through April 28th, 2017 The Continuing Resolution funds our most important national priorities. I am pleased that the CR provides funding for critical national security needs, like border security and immigration enforcement, as well as essential defense provisions to the Department of Defense and the Department of State to fix the military readiness crisis and combat ISIS abroad. The CR also increases funding to respond to natural disasters. Additionally, I supported the CR to prevent transfers of prisoners from Guantanamo Bay and the resettlement of additional Syrian refugees in the United States. The Continuing Resolution will also set the stage for a smooth start to the Trump Administration by allowing more time for the President-elect to receive confirmation for his civilian and retired military appointments in the Senate. Despite these good provisions, the Continuing Resolution process is not perfect. I look forward to working with the unified Republican government in the new Congress in order to resume the orderly budget and appropriations process.
Please join me in offering your thoughts, prayers, and condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of World War II and Korean War veteran, astronaut, United States Senator, and American hero John Glenn. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2016/12/08/astronaut-and-former-us-senator-john-glenn-dies-at-95.html
I was one of only 72 Congressmen to vote for the impeachment of IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. The IRS intentionally and systematically used their position of power to target conservative groups based on their political beliefs. Though John Koskinen was brought in to restore the trust of the American people, he has continued to withhold evidence, ignore subpoenas, and stonewall congressional investigations into the IRS targeting scandal. These actions all together indicate that IRS John Koskinen needs to be removed from office. I have been vocal throughout the past months pushing for Mr. Koskinen’s impeachment, and I voted to continue these proceedings. The evidence against the IRS Commissioner is sufficient to remove him from office—we do not need more hearings to determine what we already know. http://thehill.com/policy/finance/309089-gop-rep-moves-for-vote-on-impeaching-irs-head
